It’s not just during emergencies that this community comes together. Everyday acts of kindness happen more often than we might notice. Highlighting them is a nice reminder of why some stayed here and some moved here – it is a great place to live.
We asked our newsletter crowd to send us tidbits of good news and people they want to recognize. Joan kicks this series off with not just one, but three stories about the kindness of people.
Joan: Three good things
About one month ago my very senior husband dropped his credit card in a parking lot. He checked with a local store and found out that the credit card had been given to them in the hope that the person who lost it could claim it. An honest person and honest store employees. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your combined integrity.
Again, another act of kindness. I couldn’t lift a grocery bag into the trunk of my car and noticed a middle aged, strong looking man a few cars away. I approached him for help and noticed he had a car full of kids and was taking them to the fair. He not only loaded the bag for me, but insisted on returning my cart and even offered to follow me home to unload if necessary. Such kindness.
One night during a fairly heavy snowfall, my husband and I heard some scraping sounds and looked out to see our neighbor shoveling our driveway.
We only wish that more of the media would honor these wonderful souls. There are many more stories about kindness, but others need to tell theirs. Thank you for doing this.

Wildlife and nature in general are another major part of living in the area. Reader Amy shared this photo of a buck resting in the shade in her yard.

More good news from you to come!
