Each October, the Union Hill Bearcat community gears up for an event that has become a tradition for generations of families, alumni, and teachers alike – the Union Hill Pumpkin Patch. This event marks the arrival of fall and serves as a beacon, drawing together the community and creating memories that last a lifetime.
A Community-Wide Tradition:
The Pumpkin Patch is more than just an ordinary autumn festival; it celebrates community and unity. For decades, families have been coming together to experience family fun and nostalgia. Alumni of the school often eagerly anticipate the event, returning as recent graduates or bringing their own children to partake in the festivities. It’s a wonderful way for the entire community to come together to support the education of our children.
Booths for a Cause – Sponsored by Union Hill PTC:
At the heart of the Union Hill Elementary School Pumpkin Patch’s success lies the dedication of the Union Hill Parent-Teacher Club (PTC). The PTC not only provides invaluable support but also acts as the driving force behind the Pumpkin Patch’s continued success raising over $16,000 this year which goes directly to classrooms!
Time-Tested Favorites:
One of the unique aspects of the Pumpkin Patch is the active participation of each class or grade level. Every year, students, teachers, and parents host booths that not only offer delightful treats and entertainment but also raise money for student events.
Over the years, certain booths have become perennial favorites at the Pumpkin Patch. Dusty Falls BBQ serves up mouthwatering BBQ meals, while the Cake Walk entices visitors with an assortment of delicious desserts.
The Pumpkin Pie eating contest literally a hoot with faces full of whip cream smiles. Children of all ages flock to the giant slide, and the haunted house provides spine-tingling thrills for those who dare to enter. The artistic talents come to life at the face-painting booth, where children can transform into their favorite characters or creatures. And for the little anglers, the fishing for prizes activity is a source of endless fun and excitement.
To top it off, PTC holds raffles for amazing baskets donated by our community and offers spirit wear so families can show their Bearcat Pride all year long.
