Grass Valley, CA (10/27/26) — Falls are a leading cause of injury among older adults, but they are not an inevitable part of aging. To help local seniors build confidence, improve mobility, and stay independent, a new session of the “Strong & Steady: A Balance and Falls Prevention Course for Seniors” is set to begin this November.

This free, five-week program is designed to provide participants with the practical tools and knowledge needed to navigate daily life with greater stability. The course is proudly sponsored by Fit for Life Physical Therapy.

“Many seniors limit their activities because they are worried about falling, which can actually weaken the muscles and make falls more likely,” says Hollie Grimaldi Flores, the Nevada County Falls Prevention Coordinator. “Our goal is to help participants reframe those fears and replace them with proven exercises and strategies to move safely and confidently.”

Course Highlights: Throughout the five-week curriculum, participants will work with a certified coach to learn how to:

  • Significantly reduce the risk of falling.
  • Increase their daily activity levels safely.
  • Change their environment to be more fall-proof.
  • Practice targeted exercises specifically designed to improve balance and core strength.

  • Dates: Wednesdays, November 4th – December 2nd
  • Time: 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM
