The Nevada County Elections Office tallied 33,780 ballots on election night. Yes on Prop. 50, the temporary redistricting measure is ahead with 18,250 ballots or 54.06% vs 15,508 no votes. A measure to build a new library in the Truckee area which would serve both Nevada and Placer counties is clearing the two-thirds affirmative votes needed with 3,015 yes votes (69.02%) vs 1,353 no votes (30.98%) in Nevada County and 527 votes in favor (73.71%) and 188 no votes (26.29%) in Placer County.

The new ballot processing center, located on Loma Rica Drive, helped streamline the signature verification thanks to cross training of temporary election and warehouse staff, combined with a larger secure workspace and warehouse.



On Thursday, the official canvass period starts. Ballots postmarked on or prior to election day have to be accepted up to seven days after election day, according to California election law.
Armando Salud-Ambriz, Nevada County’s Registrar of Voters explained in an op-ed published Tuesday, “Due to the requirements of Assembly Bill 3184, the earliest any county can certify the November 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election is Tuesday, December 2, 2025. During the canvass period, our office continues to post updated unofficial results every Tuesday and Friday (excluding holidays), so voters can follow the progress as we move toward certification.”
Part of the official canvass is the 1% manual tally. Said Salud-Ambriz, “The manual tally will take place at Ballot Processing Center, 12740 Loma Rica Drive, Grass Valley Monday, Nov. 10. A random drawing of precincts and batches begins at 9 a.m. with the manual tally starting at 10 a.m. Members of the public are invited to attend and observe as part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and trust in the election process.”
