Nevada City, CA — Mayor Adam Kline has announced that he will run for re-election to the Nevada City Council in the June 2, 2026 election, citing a continued commitment to public safety, housing, economic vitality, and the arts.
“It’s been my honor to be a voice for the people of Nevada City,” said Kline. “Having grown up here, gone to school here, run a business here, rented here, and now owned a home here, I brought a lifelong connection to this community to my first term. Serving on City Council has deepened that experience, and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished.”
Kline highlighted several accomplishments of the current City Council, including the creation of the Office of Emergency Services (OES) and the Public Arts Commission (PAC). “Our Office of Emergency Services has made significant strides in improving coordination and preparedness,” Kline said. “Fire fuels mitigation remains a top priority, and continuing this work is essential to protecting lives, homes, and the long-term resilience of our community.”
Kline also emphasized the need to address housing as an urgent challenge. “Nevada City must continue working toward realistic, community-centered housing solutions,” he said. “That includes exploring opportunities on city-owned properties and working collaboratively with partners to ensure people who love this town can continue to live here.”
A former downtown record store owner, Kline maintains strong ties to the local business community. He currently serves as the City Council liaison to the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Executive Board of the Nevada County Economic Resource Council.
Kline is also deeply engaged in the arts. He has worked with organizations including the Nevada County Arts Council, InConcert Sierra, and the Onyx Theatre. He has performed as a musician locally and nationally since his days at Nevada Union High School in the 1990s.
As Mayor, Kline has designated his term from July 2025 to June 2026 as the “Year of Advanced Music Appreciation,” celebrating Nevada City’s cultural influence. “We’re more than our picturesque downtown, property values, and mining history,” he said. “We’re a cultural hub known well beyond our borders as a place music comes from, and that’s something we should celebrate.”
“Looking forward requires leadership that builds on the legacy that makes Nevada City so special. I’m honored to have the support of leaders who came before me and deeply appreciative of the work they’ve done to make Nevada City so exceptional. I want to honor that legacy by working to ensure that Nevada City is well-positioned for the handoff to the next generation of leaders,” Kline added.
