NEVADA CITY, CA – The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) responded to a 911 call at approximately noon on April 11, 2026, reporting a shooting that had occurred in the area of Yellow Pine Lane off Graniteville Rd in a remote area of Nevada City. Upon arrival to the scene, one adult male was located deceased.
NCSO Major Crimes Unit detectives responded to the scene, and a homicide investigation was initiated. A forensic team from California Department of Justice also deployed to assist with processing the crime scene. Investigators remained at the scene throughout the night, with processing of the scene ongoing this morning.
There are no suspects in custody currently. The identity of the victim, a man in his 40’s, is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification. We will provide updates as they become available.
