Since its inception in 2009 by the California Department of Education, the Classified School Employees of the Year program has shined a well-deserved spotlight on the unsung heroes of our schools – those who work tirelessly to support student success from preschool through 12th grade.

Yesterday, ten outstanding classified employees – representing all school district in Western Nevada County – were celebrated for their exceptional service and unwavering dedication to public education. The honorees were recognized at a heartfelt breakfast celebration held at the iconic Holbrooke Hotel in Grass Valley, a setting as rich in history as the contributions of those being honored.
County Superintendent of Schools Scott W. Lay, alongside local school district superintendents, and other distinguished guests, extended deep gratitude to these individuals whose behind-the-scenes efforts and everyday interactions help shape safe, welcoming, and inspiring learning environments.
