September 4, 2018 – On September 2nd, 2018 at approximately 6:30am, deputies from the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence in Grass Valley for a report of a sexual assault that occurred earlier that morning.
Multiple interviews were conducted with the persons on scene and deputies collected numerous items of evidence from the residence. It was being alleged that 27-year-old Taylor Daniel Mordue had entered a bedroom in the home and sexually assaulted a female under the age of 14.
Mordue was taken into custody and detectives from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit obtained a search warrant to have Mordue undergo a sexual assault examination.
Mordue was later booked at the Nevada County Jail on multiple felony charges relating to molestation and rape of a victim less than 14 years of age. Mordue’s bail was set at $107,500.00 and he remains in custody.
