Grass Valley, February 3, 2024 – In an effort to provide crucial support for caregivers of individuals with dementia, we are thrilled to announce the “Essential Tools for Caregivers Workshop Series,” a free educational event hosted by the Alzheimer’s Outreach Program. The series will take place on Fridays: February 16th, February 23rd, March 1st, and March 8th, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at Eskaton Village Grass Valley.

What:

Join us for an informative conversation addressing the challenges faced by caregivers of those with dementia. The workshop series will cover topics such as caring for the caregiver, financial planning, community resources, and creating meaning in daily activities.

When:

  • February 16: Caring for the Caregiver
    • Speaker: Judy Kautz, LCSW, AOP Coordinator
    • Explore the challenges of caregiving, connect with others facing similar experiences, and learn the importance of self-care.
  • February 23: Legal and Financial Planning
    • Speakers: Dylan Hendricks, J.D. and Heather Thorpe, CFPยฎ, AAMS ยฎ
    • Local experts provide best practices for handling legal and financial matters, including updates on Medi-Cal. An “ask the expert” session will cover general financial and legal topics.
  • March 1: Community Resources, Elder Care Options, and Advance Care Planning
    • Speaker: Judy Kautz, LCSW
    • Connect with local programs and support networks, understand care options, and navigate advance care planning documents.
  • March 8: Creating Meaning in Daily Activities
    • Speakers: Linda Aeschliman and Judy Kautz, LCSW
    • Learn to make daily activities more enjoyable for both caregivers and their loved ones.

This workshop series aims to empower caregivers with essential tools and knowledge, fostering a supportive community in the journey of dementia caregiving.
