Amador County, CA – Yesterday, Danny Killion, 39, was convicted in Amador County Superior Court on four charges – one count of felony reckless arson and three counts of child endangerment – all related to the Electra Fire on July 4, 2022.
This conviction is the result of an extensive investigation and the collaborative efforts of CAL FIRE Law Enforcement and the Amador County District Attorney’s Office, both dedicated to holding arsonists accountable and protecting our communities.
Due to the dedication and aggressive prosecution by the Amador County District Attorney’s Office, Killion was convicted of one felony reckless arson charge (PC 452(c)) for starting the fire and three misdemeanor child endangerment charges (PC 273a(b)) for endangering his children, who were in the vehicle with him at the time. This marks another victory in combating wildfire- related crimes and reinforces the severe consequences of arson. His sentencing is scheduled to take place in approximately one month.
Killion, who was homeless at the time of the fire, was arrested in August 2024 in Yuba City and later booked into the Amador County Jail on arson charges. The Electra Fire started in Amador County and spread into Calaveras County, ultimately burning 4,470 acres. Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set on July 4, leading to his arrest and subsequent conviction.
CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers work diligently to investigate fires and apprehend those responsible. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the secure arson hotline at 1-800-468-4408.
