Grass Valley, CA – North Star House, designed by renowned architect Julia Morgan, is seeking passionate individuals to join its team as docents. We recently uncovered fascinating new history about Julia Morgan and celebrated author Mary Hallock Foote, highlighting how these extraordinary women played significant roles in the fight for equal rights. Their groundbreaking contributions have left a lasting legacy that continues to inspire today.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to play a key role in preserving and sharing the rich history of this historic site, while engaging with the community and helping visitors connect with the past.

We invite anyone interested to attend our Docent Meetup on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025, at 11:00 AM at North Star House, located at 12075 Auburn Rd., Grass Valley, CA 95949. This meetup will provide an introduction to the docent role, offer insight into the training process, and discuss how you can become part of the North Star House volunteer team.

What is a Docent?

North Star House Docents guide visitors on tours, share fascinating historical stories, and create a meaningful and educational experience for guests. Open tours are offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 11am-1pm, along with scheduled private tours that vary based on availability.
