August 25, 2016 – BriarPatch Co-op Community Market is accepting applications from local nonprofit organizations for two donation programs — its Cooperative Community Fund grants and Co-op CAUSE checkout donation program.
The areas targeted for both projects are: sustainable agriculture, local food, and organic food; hunger and social issues; environmental protection and stewardship; and cooperatives.
A total of $3000 is available from the BriarPatch Cooperative Community Fund, which may be granted in lesser amounts to several groups. Local nonprofits are also invited to apply for the Co-op CAUSE program, which stands for “Change Adds Up, Supporting Everyone.” Established in April of 2015, this program generates donations from shoppers, who are invited to round up their purchase totals to the nearest dollar for chosen groups.
A single application is being used for both programs and may be downloaded from the BriarPatch website, www.briarpatch.coop/community/community-fund/, or by request at the store’s Customer Service window. Grant applications are due by August 31, and the grants will be awarded in October.
