Butte County, Calif. October 10, 2016 – CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire Department will be holding a 40 acre control burn on Thursday, October 13th in the area of the shaded fuel break along the Cohasset Ridge between the communities of Cohasset and Butte Meadows.
While the location of the control burn is remote, smoke may be visible in the surrounding areas throughout the day. Weather conditions will be monitored and the burn may be postponed if burning conditions are found to be unfavorable.
“This control burn will allow us to burn within the timber litter existing fuel breaks to enhance the fuel reduction project and improve wildlife habitat” stated Battalion Chief Joe Tapia.
