Grass Valley, CA Oct 27, 2016 – The Center for Animal Protection & Education (CAPE) has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on November 29, #GivingTuesday is held annually in the U.S. on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. #Giving Tuesday is a kick-off to the holiday giving season and inspires people to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
Cupcake and Brownie were abandoned in filth. Both had severe medical needs: Brownie was sick with kennel cough and possibly a bacterial infection. Cupcake was diagnosed with multiple mammary tumors and suffered a seizure. Funds raised during #GivingTuesday will benefit CAPE’s Veterinary Fund to help cover the costs of medical care for Cupcake, Brownie and many other animals rescued by CAPE.
“Both Cupcake and Brownie are in a CAPE foster home where they are recovering side by side. These two dogs suffered together, and their bond to one another is very deep. Our goal is to find a home where they can be adopted together – we cannot imagine separating them.” Cathy Townsend, CAPE Foster Care & Adoption Manager.

ABOUT CAPE: Founded in 1992, The Center for Animal Protection and Education (CAPE) works to save the lives of individual animals and to educate people about ways in which they can change their own lives to alleviate animal suffering. Over the years, CAPE has helped thousands of animals. CAPE’s Foster Care Program provides a safe place for rescued animals who are older, injured or recovering from illness. These animals are placed into new, loving homes through CAPE’s Ruff & Ready and Adoption Programs.
In 2012 CAPE established the CAPE Animal Sanctuary in Grass Valley, California. Focusing on animals with special needs and their burro rescue program, CAPE’s Animal Sanctuary is now the permanent home to dozens of animals. CAPE also sponsors, supports and produces educational programs designed to inform people about issues animals face in society today. The Animal Film Festival is the centerpiece of CAPE’s educational outreach events.
