July 13, 2017 – Join Bear Yuba Land Trust for an end-of-Summer Gala – Open Spaces and Wild Places: A Celebration of Land – to be held outdoors under the oaks at one of the most spectacular permanently protected agricultural lands in Nevada County, Linden Lea Ranch.
It’s the Land Trust’s biggest fundraiser of the year and a fun way to support land conservation while experiencing the beauty of one of the most important conserved ranches in our community. The 800-acre Linden Lea Ranch is one of several private ranches that BYLT protects with an agricultural conservation easement, permanently preventing development of important agricultural land.
Gates open at 4 pm with a social hour featuring appetizers from Emily’s Catering, signature cocktails, craft beer from Three Forks Brewing Co. and wine from Lucchesi Vineyards. Guests can stroll an art show of landscape photography, peruse a Silent Auction and visit the Land Trust tent for all the latest updates on land conservation and trail projects, treks and nature programming. Bob Mora and the Third Degree Blues Band will provide a little bit of soul, blues, funk and reggae throughout the evening.
Once again, Chef Emily Scott-Arbaugh will delight the conservation community with a delicious farm-to-fork dinner using the finest locally grown foods. Long-time Land Trust partner, Nevada County Free Range Beef will be the centerpiece of the meal with salmon and vegetarian options also available served family style alongside seasonal side dishes. As always, a decadent dessert will finish things off. As always, a spectacular Live Auction is in store for gala attendees, followed by an unforgettable river canyon sunset.
Founded in 1990, BYLT is a private, non-profit, member-supported group promoting voluntary conservation of the region’s natural, historical and agricultural resources in the Bear River and Yuba River watersheds of the Sierra Nevada. To date, the Land Trust has saved more than 12,000 acres from development.
Other unique Land Trust events designed to get people outside and support the protection of the region’s rural quality of life include a Community BioBlitz for families in May, Celebration of Trails in June for outdoor recreationists, plus many inspiring and informative guided Treks for all interests and abilities year round. BYLT Saves Land, Builds Trails, and offers programs to get people outdoors to Encounter Nature.
