Nevada County, CA – The Nevada County Office of Emergency Services reminds the community that wildfires can be ignited by fireworks. Possessing, transporting, or using fireworks is illegal in Nevada County. For more details on California Firework laws and safety, please visit ReadyforWildfire.org.
Fireworks aren’t the only wildfire concern this weekend. With hot weather, high fire risk and increased outdoor visitation, we all need to do our part to stay ready and stay safe. A few reminders:
- Do not use a lawn mower on weeds or dry grass.
- Properly dispose of cigarettes and matches.
- Avoid power equipment that creates sparks.
- Make sure no vehicle parts drag on the ground, including towing chains.
Celebrate responsibly at the many events occurring throughout Nevada County.
East County Events
Kick-off your celebration with the annual Truckee Tradition, a free Pancake Breakfast at Truckee Fire Station 92. From 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. enjoy coffee and pancakes to support your local firefighters. Donations support the Truckee Firefighters Charitable Fund (TFCF) which offers scholarships to Truckee High School students pursuing careers in emergency medicine or fire suppression.
Jog into the Holiday Weekend with the Firecracker Mile, a family friendly event suited for runners of all ability. Start times begin at 9:45 a.m. at the Truckee Fire Station 92. After the Firecracker Mile the Truckee 4th of July Parade begins.
For Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District Residents & Homeowners, tickets for the West End Beach Fireworks Display can be purchased until July 3.
West County Events
Activities in Grass Valley start at 8 a.m. with the kid favorite Annual Pancake Breakfast at the Mill Street Plaza. The evening celebration on Mill Street features live music, street food and an array of beverages from 5 – 9 p.m.
The Nevada City Street Fair will take place on North Pine Street from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Experience the annual 4th of July Parade from 11 a.m. at Broad and Union Street in Nevada City.
Enjoy the free fireworks display above the Dorsey Drive Interchange starting at 9:30 p.m.
