May 30, 2017 – Cooler today and Wednesday. A weak system will move through the interior late tonight and Wednesday morning to bring light amounts of rain. Dry and warmer for the remainder of the week.
Discussion (Today through Friday)
A weak trough remains over the area today and we may continue to see some afternoon thunderstorms along the crest south of Alpine County this afternoon.
A broader trough in the Pacific with more moisture will move through from late evening through mainly Wednesday morning. Light amounts of rain are expected for the valley with accumulating amounts less than a tenth of an inch for most areas.
Some showers may linger Wednesday afternoon in the foothills and mountains before ending. Cooling all areas will occur both today and Wednesday with the coolest day of the week likely to occur on Wednesday.
Thursday and Friday the region will be under a dry zonal flow pattern and temperatures will warm back to normal or slightly above normal for the interior.
Extended discussion (Saturday through Tuesday)
A weak shortwave moves through Saturday with a broader trough developing and lingering over the region through Tuesday. The models are showing the trough is lacking enough moisture to produce any activity over the interior.
Temperatures will warm a little above normal for this time of year but remain pleasant.
