GRASS VALLEY, Calif. July 2, 2026 – The City of Grass Valley announces funds available for their First-Time Homebuyer (FTHB) Program. This Program is made possible with Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funding from the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), with a total of $467,500 in direct assistance available.

Are you ready for homeownership, but need funding to help qualify for a loan to assist with your down payment and closing costs? This FTHB program will provide financial assistance to open the door to homeownership for low-income applicants within the Grass Valley city limits by offering down payment loans of up to $75,000 at 2% deferred interest (no monthly payments until the home is sold, rented, changes use, or after 30 years, whichever occurs first) to those who meet income and other eligibility requirements.

Applicants looking to buy a home must be a first-time homebuyer, meaning they cannot have owned a home, been on a mortgage or title, or held interest in a home in the last three years (with the exception of displaced homemakers). The maximum home purchase price cannot exceed $499,000. Applicants of this program must complete a homebuyer education course, be approved for a mortgage loan, and must reside in the residence. Applications will be granted acceptance on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applicants must have annual household incomes that meet the limits below:
