NEVADA CITY – The Nevada County Transportation Commission (NCTC) and the City of Nevada City are hosting a community workshop on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Miners Foundry in Nevada City to discuss the Zion-Sacramento Pedestrian and Bicycle Mobility Plan.
This initiative aims to enhance pedestrian and bicycle safety, mobility, and access to schools along the Zion Street – Sacramento Street corridor from Ridge Road to Pine Street, including connections to Deer Creek Elementary, Seven Hills Middle School, and Forest Charter School.
The first round of public engagement began in March and included an in-person Open House and an interactive online engagement website. Since March, we have developed several conceptual design alternatives informed by the initial feedback received online and in-person. We now invite the community to review the alternatives. Your feedback is crucial for further refinement of the design concepts that best meet the transportation needs of the Zion-Sacramento corridor.

The workshop will include a brief presentation followed by a breakout group activity where community members can discuss the design alternatives with one another. Each breakout group will share their thoughts and recommend preferred improvement concepts to NCTC, the City of Nevada City, and workshop attendees. Key questions for the community will include:
- What benefits does each alternative provide? What trade-offs will need to be made for each alternative?
- How do you think the alternatives will affect you? How will they affect other community members?
- Is there anything you would change about the concepts presented today?
- Which alternative(s) would you like to see further developed?
