Butte County May 28, 2019 – CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire Department, in cooperation with California Department of Fish and Wildlife and California Department of Water Resources will be conducting a 30-acre control burn at the Rabe Road Shooting Range on Tuesday, May 28th, beginning around 9:00 a.m.
The vegetation management project (VMP) burn will provide live fire training while eliminating a fire hazard easily ignited each summer in the area of the public outdoor shooting range.
“Burning the dry vegetation in this area removes a fire hazard and allows our firefighters to practice a wide range of skills and techniques that will serve them well during future incidents this fire season,” said Battalion Chief Tony Brownell.
The shooting range will be closed to the public all day Tuesday, May 28, 2018. Smoke from this control burn will be highly visible during the morning hours near the airport in West Oroville
