NEVADA COUNTY, Calif. May 28, 2020 – Shortly before 11 pm on May 27, our Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a male subject in the 15000 block of Greenhorn Rd. The male subject, who did not identify himself, simply stated he needed the police to respond and hung up the phone. Dispatchers attempted to call back the male several times with no answer. Deputies were immediately dispatched to the residence for a welfare check.

Upon arrival, deputies were met outside of the residence by a male subject who was later identified as Dennis Wallace, 60 years old of Grass Valley. Mr. Wallace was sitting on the deck and appeared to be agitated. Once Mr. Wallace was detained, a search of the residence was conducted.

Deputies located a male and female deceased inside of the residence from what appeared to be blunt force trauma. Through investigation, it was determined that Mr. Wallace is the son of the female victim and the step-son of the male victim. The names of the victims will be released once additional next of kin notification can be made.

Mr. Wallace was arrested and booked into the Wayne Brown Correction on two counts of murder. The investigation is ongoing.
