Grass Valley, November 16, 2024 – The Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation (SNMHF) is calling on community members to join in supporting an essential project aimed at enhancing the Intensive Critical Care Unit (ICCU) at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital (SNMH). Ed and Bernadette Sylvester, dedicated long-term supporters of both the Hospital and the Foundation, have announced a $10,000 matching gift to inspire community contributions for the ICCU campaign.
“The proposed ICCU improvement project is of critical importance to our hospital,” stated Ed, who serves on the boards of both the Hospital and the Foundation. “The support of the Foundation is increasingly important as rural hospitals like ours face challenges from decreasing reimbursement for services. Community generosity in the past has made significant advancements possible, including upgrades to the Emergency Department and the purchase of a new ambulance.”
Project Overview: The ICCU at SNMH currently consists of 10 beds and provided care for 1,604 patients in fiscal year 2023. To ensure that SNMH continues to provide the highest quality of care for its most vulnerable patients, the hospital is seeking community support to modernize the ICCU with a goal of raising $1.2 million by December 31, 2024. Construction is slated to begin in 2025.
