Dry and mild weather today. Shower chances return to the northern Sacramento Valley and northern mountains on Thursday. Widespread highs in the 80s return to the Valley this weekend.

Discussion

Mid and high clouds are moving across NorCal early this morning as the weak system moves through. A few light showers have fallen since Monday evening across Shasta County up into northeast California, but these are beginning to wind down. Amounts have been mostly less than a tenth of an inch.

NorCal will be in-between weak systems today and Wednesday with increased onshore flow. Temperatures will be down a few degrees compared to Monday, but still a few degrees above average.

Highs today will be a little cooler compared to Monday's.

Highs will be in the mid 70s to lower 80s across the Central Valley. Another weak system will brush across NorCal on Thursday with light QPF expected across similar areas to last evening’s. It will bring additional brief cooling of around 5 degrees before warming returns heading into the weekend.

Extended Discussion (Saturday through Tuesday)

Dry weather expected Friday as short wave upper ridging moves through NorCal. Southern portions of Pacific frontal system progged across northern portions of the CWA Saturday bringing a threat of some showers, mainly to the Shasta mountains.

Dry Sunday as weak upper ridging follows. Models then differ with depth of next upstream system which equates to differences in precip potential. Forecast for now follows EC/NBM with a potential for more widespread precipitation early next week.
