NEVADA CITY, Calif. January 22, 2017 – A structure fire was reported at 6:09 am on Vee Court, off North Bloomfield in the Nevada County Consolidated Fire District. Upon the arrival of the first unit, it was reported a 1 story wood frame, (log cabin) residential occupancy, with heavy smoke and fire showing, fully involved.
The fire took approximately 1.25 hours to knockdown and an additional 2.5 hours to extinguish.
All operations were performed from the exterior of the building due to the amount of involvement and instability of the structure.
There was no extension to the wildland, and the fire was contained to the building of origin.
All occupants were reported out of the building, and out of town, this was later confirmed by Prevention 1 who made contact with the tenant and the property owner.
Three Water Tenders were utilized to maintain a water shuttle due to the lack of hydrants in the area.
The building was a total loss. No damage to adjacent properties. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Prevention 1.
Nevada County Consolidated Battalion 2, Engine 84, Prevention 1, Engine 5464, Engine 2, Engine 86 and Water Tender 88 were assisted by Ophir Hill Fire, Penn Valley Fire and CAL FIRE. All units were released by 11:36am.
