We are pleased to announce that Ana Acton has accepted the position of Deputy Director of Independent Living and Community Access Division at the California Department of Rehabilitation, effective June 2, 2021. As Executive Director for the past 9 years, Ana Acton has continued the standard of great leadership at FREED and is a model advocate for people with disabilities. FREED is healthier and carries its mission further into our communities than ever before due to her vision. 

The Board wishes Ana success in her new work and all that she does and is confident that she will always carry with her, her passion for the rights and independence of all people with disabilities.

It is our pleasure to also announce that during the Executive Director recruitment process, FREED’s Deputy Director Carly Pacheco will serve as the Interim Executive Director, effective May 4, 2021. With over 7 years at FREED and almost 5 years as Deputy Director, Carly has demonstrated strong leadership skills and passion for independent living.

For over 36 years, FREED’s mission has been to promote independence and self-determination for people with disabilities through person-driven services, collaborative community partnerships and education, and leadership that advocates for fully inclusive communities. FREED serves the counties of Nevada, Sierra, Sutter, Yuba, and Colusa. FREED is a local disability and aging resource center with offices in Grass Valley and Yuba City.
