Grass Valley, Calif. October 27, 2016 – Friends of Hospice, a volunteer fundraising auxiliary for Hospice of the Foothills, celebrated their 35th Anniversary on Tuesday, October 25th at the Alta Sierra Country Club. Since their inception in 1981, Friends of Hospice has raised over $2.4 million dollars to help fund the care Hospice of the Foothills provides. Memorable events over the years have included Arts and Flowers, Spangles and Spurs, chili cook-offs, ice cream socials, bake sales, and many, many more. Several fundraisers have become annual favorites including the Butterfly Garden of Remembrance, Breakfast in the Park, Pennies for Hospice, Tree of Love, and Pave the Way.

In addition to their fundraising efforts, Friends of Hospice members create hand crafted teddy bears that are presented to each patient upon admission. Every holiday and patient birthday also brings another gift from Friends. With each handmade gift, Friends members demonstrate their enduring care for the patients and families served by Hospice of the Foothills.

“On behalf of Hospice of the Foothills staff and board members, past and present, I’d like extend our deep appreciation for the hard work and dedication of each and every Friends of Hospice volunteer. Your commitment to supporting our mission for 35 years is truly exemplary. You have been more important to Hospice of the Foothills than I can even express,” said Carolynn Peterson, HOF Executive Director.
