GRASS VALLEY, Calif. May 24, 2017 – Yesterday, May 23rd at 6:52 pm, units responded to Stacey Lane in the City of Grass Valley.

Upon arrival on scene, Battalion 2 reported heavy smoke and fire on two sides of a detached garage with extension into the wildland.

E1, T2, and E5482 crews attacked the fire from the exterior with hand-lines, and making access into the structure were they were able to suppress the rest of the fire.

E88, and E86 provided manpower and assisted with suppression operations.

CAL FIRE E2352 and E2364 attacked the wildland and contained it to about 1/4 acres.

The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes, with salvage and overhaul taking an additional 1 hours.

The fire was contained to the detached garage sustaining heavy smoke and fire damage. The wildland was contained to 1/4 acre.

The cause is still under investigation.

JOA units E1, T2, E88, E5482, E86 and Battalion 2 were assisted by Cal Fire E2352, E2364, B2312, Penn Valley Fire E44 and Sierra Nevada Ambulance Medic 1.

All units were released by 8:05 pm.
