GRASS VALLEY Calif. April 4, 2017 – All units responded to East Empire Street in Grass Valley at 2:32 pm.  Upon the arrival of C1300, it was reported heavy smoke from all sides of a detached garage.

E1 and E2 crew attacked the fire from the exterior with hand-lines, and eventually forcing entry and making access into the structure where they were met with high heat and moderate fire.  E88 and E5464, provided a water supply and assisted with suppression operation. The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes, with salvage and overhaul taking an additional 2 hours.

The fire was contained to the detached garage which sustained heavy smoke and fire damage.

The cause is still under investigation.

E1, E2, E88, E5464, Prevention 1, C1300 and Battalion 2 were assisted by Ophir Hill FD, SNA. All units were released at 4:30 pm.
