NEVADA CITY, Calif. August 26, 2016 – The Golden Quartz Day Use Area, a popular swimming section on the South Yuba Trail on the Yuba River Ranger District, will be closed starting Monday, August 29, 2016, while Nevada County replaces the Maybert Road Bridge on Maybert Road at the Canyon Creek crossing, located approximately three miles east of the town of Washington.

Construction is estimated to take place between August 29, 2016 and December 20, 2016. However, environmental factors may impact progress. The public is encouraged to check the website located at Nevada County’s facebook page at: www.facebook.com/nevcopwsocial.

According to the Nevada County Department of Public Works, they will work diligently to keep the public abreast of the progress by utilizing the county’s, “Friday Memo” and press releases to inform the public of project milestones and delays.

The Tahoe National Forest will also keep visitors updated on the forest’s website under the picnicking tab located in the recreation menu.
