February 5, 2019 – Grass Valley and Nevada County Consolidated Firefighters responded to a vehicle accident with injuries in the area of Auburn Road near Pingree, yesterday at 7:30 pm.

Firefighters arrived to find a single vehicle over the side 75 to 100 ft in blackberries with a single occupant. Firefighters assessed the situation and determined a low angle rope rescue system would be necessary to bring the patient up the bank.

Firefighters were able to complete the rescue bringing the patient to street level by use of the rope system and a stokes basket.

Paramedics treated and transported the patient to a local trauma center.

Grass Valley Engine 1, Battalion 1, NCCFD Engine 88 and Engine 89 were assisted by Sierra Nevada Medics and CHP. All units were released at 8:30 p.m.
