GRASS VALLEY, Calif. October 2, 2016 – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting motorists to anticipate traffic delays Sunday, October 2 on State Route 49 just south of Grass Valley between Crestview Drive and Smith Road for guardrail repair work.

Motorists should anticipate delays as maintenance crews will close one lane and use one-way traffic controls from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 2 to repair and replace damaged guardrail on the narrow stretch of roadway.  California Highway Patrol officers will be on hand to assist with traffic control. Because weekday traffic volumes are much heavier on Highway 49, the work is scheduled for Sunday to reduce the traffic impact of the lane closure.

Motorists are advised to plan for additional travel time and prepare for delays. Weather or unexpected events may prolong the work.

Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic, click on Caltrans QuickMap at: http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/
