August 1, 2017 – On Tuesday morning, August 1st, non-profit executive and former Union columnist, Hilary Hodge, filed official paperwork to run for District 3 Supervisor in Nevada County. District 3 covers the city of Grass Valley, as well as some expansion south of the city limits and some geography east and west. The District 3 seat is currently held by Dan Miller.

Hilary Hodge currently serves as the Executive Director of Sierra Commons, Nevada County’s small business incubator and coworking space.  In her capacity at Sierra Commons, Hodge oversees small business development in Nevada County, was awarded federal and state grants for community development and entrepreneurship, and supported several small businesses from idea to incubation.

“As a non-profit executive in Nevada County specializing in small business development, I know we can revitalize our community with innovative solutions,” says Hodge.  “We can have a sustainable, thriving economy without compromising our small town charm, our rural values and our environmental beauty.” Hodge has experience in the online or “gig” economy and sees the trend toward digital development and remote work as an opportunity for Nevada County.

In addition to volunteering with several local non-profits, Hilary Hodge is the recording secretary for the Music in the Mountains Chorus and serves on the board of the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce.  “We have so any incredible organizations representing the backbone of Nevada County’s culture and economy,” remarks Hodge. “It is my position that our community organizations should be recognized and supported for their impact and value.”

Hilary Hodge kicks off her campaign with a party at Summerthymes Cafe on Wednesday, August 30th at 6pm.  She invites the public to come and her to know her better and welcomes community conversations. Her website is at hilaryhodgeforsupervisor.com
