May 17, 2017 – Investigators from the Lincoln Police Department, Placer County Sheriff’s Office, and the Placer County District Attorney’s Office identified a possible suspect in this morning’s homicide.

His vehicle was located eastbound on interstate 80 in Placer County. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver fled. In an effort to safely stop the vehicle, which was possibly being driven by an armed, dangerous person, spike strips were deployed. Some of the vehicle’s tires were disabled, bringing the vehicle to a stop on I-80, west of Hirschdale Road. Officers approached the vehicle and found the driver with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The suspect’s identity will be released by the Coroner’s Division of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (the death occurred in Nevada County).
