Charles and Gail Entrekin moved to Nevada City in the mid-nineties, and soon became Nevada County’s leading supporters of the literary arts. Along with other local writers and poets, they established Literature Alive!, which produced annual Wordslingers Festivals and Listening to the Wild events for more than a decade, bringing hundreds of local, regional, and national writers and poets to the Miners Foundry, the Center for the Arts, the Grass Valley Veterans Memorial Building, St. Joseph’s Cultural Center, and other venues.
Charles passed away in February of this year. In fond memory of Charles and with immense gratitude for his life and good works, five poet friends—Gene Berson, Karla Arens, Jeff Kane, Scott V. Young, and Judy Crowe—will read a selection of his poetry on May 6 at Three Forks in Nevada City.
There will be time for others to read a poem or to share a brief memory.
This is a free Sierra Poetry Festival event. All are welcome.
Tuesday, May 6, 4:30–6:30 p.m.
Three Forks, 211 Commercial Street, Nevada City
