Nevada City, CA: On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, we received a call reporting a possible robbery in a rural portion of Nevada County off of Chalk Bluff Road. The victim was able to provide photographs of the suspect vehicle, as well as detailed descriptions of the suspects that were involved in the alleged theft. During the initial investigation, our patrol deputies were able to identify one suspect based upon the information that was initially provided by the victim. The California Highway Patrol Valley Division Air Operations unit assisted our investigation and provided critical information from an overflight of the area with their helicopter. Subsequently, a search warrant was authored for a property located on Jones Ridge Road where the suspect vehicle was located during the overflight.

SKS Riffle removed

On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, detectives from our Major Crimes Unit who were assisted by patrol deputies executed the search warrant at a property on Jones Ridge Road. A loaded SKS rifle and several other key items of evidence were located during the search warrant. A probation search was conducted simultaneously at another property within the city limits of Grass Valley by a detective from the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office as well as detectives from the Grass Valley Police Department. At that location, over $3,000 in stolen property was recovered. This recovered property was identified to be from the robbery that occurred on Chalk Bluff Road.

The suspects of the robbery are still at large. Our detectives are currently investigating several leads to apprehend them.
