NEVADA CITY, Calif. – Yesterday, Jamie Jones turned herself in at the arraignment at the Nevada County Courthouse. Jones, the Executive Director of the Fire Safe Council of Nevada County and her former partner Chris Wackerly, the non-profit’s Director of Operations have been charged with 29 counts of felony offenses, including including money laundering, embezzlement and perjury.

Wackerly was arrested last Friday by District Attorney investigators and booked into Wayne Brown. He was cooperative. According to District Attorney Jesse Wilson, both are represented by the Walsh Law firm.

The Fire Safe Council’s board of directors will meet on Wednesday to discuss next steps for the organization.

A criminal indictment contains charges that are only allegations against a person. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
