TRUCKEE, Calif. October 26, 2016 – Early this morning, TPD Officers along with fire personnel were dispatched to a 911 call at a residence where a small child was calling for help. They arrived to find 8 year old Eva at the residence who had just found her mother nearly unconscious on the floor after a medical episode.

Eva was very brave and able to stay on the line with 911 dispatchers to give them details of where she lived and what was happening. Officers and medical personnel were able to get her mom the help she needed and she is expected to be just fine.

You never know when an emergency may happen and when Eva, and young children like her, are prepared to respond in situations like this one, it allows first responders the best chance at arriving quickly and providing aid.

Detective Madden checked in with Eva this afternoon at her bus stop and gave her a few goodies to commemorate her bravery today. We decided to take this opportunity to thank Eva for her quick thinking, as well as to remind all citizens that it is very important to know emergency information such as when to call 911, knowing your address, and providing other details to operators.
