NEVADA CITY, Calif. August 19, 2017 – On Friday afternoon, between 2:30 and 7:45 pm the Tahoe National Forest’s higher elevations experienced thunderstorms with at times heavy downpours and very gusty winds. 21 lightning strikes were recorded for the period.
Reconnaissance flights will check for any possible fire starts again today.
The weather forecast calls for a continued threat of afternoon to evening showers and thunderstorms, mainly over the mountains.
