NEVADA CITY, Calif. September 6, 2017 – On Tuesday, between 2:18 pm and 7:21 pm 228 lightning strikes came down on the Tahoe National Forest. 159 for the Sierraville Ranger District, 86 for the Yuba River Ranger District, 38 for the Truckee Ranger District and 6 strikes for the American River Ranger District.

A recon flight is underway over the TNF, already 6 confirmed fires are being worked on by firefighters. The fires are mostly single trees on fire, with little extension to the surrounding wildland.
