All local fire stations remain fully staffed within Nevada County as firefighters and equipment are assigned to large incidents burning throughout the state, just like CAL FIRE and federal resources.
According to Nevada County Consolidated Fire Chief Jason Robitaille, “Our Preposition task force ended last Friday at 0800, then was immediately reassigned to the TCU lightning complex where they are still committed. This morning we sent out three engines from Peardale, Higgins and Penn Valley along with a Task Force leader trainee to the Garnet incident.”
Four personnel from Grass Valley Fire, one staff from Higgins Fire, four personnel from Nevada County Consolidated, three personnel from North San Juan Fire, two personnel from Ophir Hill Fire and one personnel from Penn Valley Fire are working on the Root, Garnet Complex, Peak (Swift Complex), Blue and TCU September Lightning Complex.
One engine from Penn Valley, two engines from Peardale-Chicago Park, one water tender and one engine from North San Juan, one engine from Consolidated, two engines from Higgins and one engine from Grass Valley are assigned to fires throughout the state.
Both Northern and Southern California preparedness levels are at level 4 on a scale from 1-5, with 5 representing the highest level. In preparedness level 4, resources are heavily committed. Mobilization trends affect all areas and regularly occur over larger distances. There is heavy demand on inactive/low activity areas for available resources.
