Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to a series of spot fires along Hwy 20 near the Brighton St. overcrossing. The fires were impacting trees threating areas off Primrose Lane. Grass Valley PD and other law enforcement agencies evacuated several residents in those areas as a precaution.
Firefighters were able to contain the spot fires with no damage or extension into the adjacent homes with a well-coordinated, rapid fire attack along with the assistance of a cinderblock wall that protected many of the homes from the ground fire.
The spot fires amounted to .6 acres. Fire investigators are looking into the cause of the spot fires.
Grass Valley Engines 201, 2, 5, NCCFD 88, Battalion 3, Grass Valley PD responded at 1:00 pm and all resources were released at 2:45 pm.
