Grass Valley, CA – InConcert Sierra presents the autumn Sierra Student Showcase! This recital event offers young music students a chance to share their musical talents with the community and hone their performance abilities. Join us for the Showcase on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 4:30 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Grass Valley.
The recital program invites students ages 6–18, of all skill levels, to participate, welcoming musicians on all instruments as well as vocalists. This showcase offers students valuable performance experience, encouraging them to bring their musical talents to life before a live audience.
Local music teachers are invited to register their students for the event by visiting the InConcert Sierra website at InConcertSierra.org and completing the application form. Registration is open until Nov. 10, with a $10 fee per student. Teachers should ensure that the selected piece is performance-ready.
Lynn Schugren, renowned pianist, teacher, co-founder and chair of the Student Showcase Recitals, highlights the value of performance for students of all levels. She notes that preparing a piece for performance deepens a musician’s connection to the music. With practice, they achieve ease and emotional flow, bringing the music to life. The goal is to go beyond the notes, allowing the music to flow naturally and transform into pure sound.
“The reward of performing for a live audience lies in the applause and appreciation, giving students a sense of accomplishment and motivating them to continue their musical journey. Performing for family and friends is special, but performing for the general public—or strangers—adds a new dimension, removing the comfort level and making the experience even more profound,” says Ken Hardin, ICS Artistic Director.
The community is invited to attend this celebration of musical talent, supporting and encouraging young musicians on their journey to musical excellence. Admission is free with a $10 or above suggested donation at the door $10. Youth 18 years and younger are free.
