Drum roll please! Musical Mondays returns to the outdoor amphitheater at the Nevada County Library on Monday, June 13 featuring the joyful and lively music of Beaucoup Chapeaux.
Musical Mondays is a popular series of one-hour morning concerts where kids can be kids, adults can relax and enjoy, and the music is engaging with an educational twist. The experience is casual with attendees bringing their own lawn chairs or blankets, snacks, and everyone can play, dance, and engage with the music.
Musical Mondays is a collaboration between the library and InConcert Sierra to showcase live music experiences at the Marian E. Gallaher, M.D. Amphitheater, adjacent to the Madelyn Helling Library at the Rood Center. The program is free to the public and each week presents a different ensemble.
Launching the series is Beaucoup Chapeaux, voted best live music by Nevada City Chamber of Commerce. Their repertoire includes wild and beautiful music from France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Serbia, Macedonia, Russia, Bulgaria, Romania, as well as American jazz and folk music, and their own originals that will get your Monday moving along. The four musicians, Maggie McKaig, Luke Wilson, Murray Campbell and Randy McKean, perform with a magical mix of accordion, violin, oboe, English horn, tenor guitar, clarinet, bass clarinet, piccolo, and voice.
Subsequent weeks will present the music of Brass Valley 5 (brass quintet), Trio Toccata, Western Songbirds (vocal trio), harp, and the Windjammers (wind quartet).
Friends of Nevada County Libraries sponsor Musical Mondays and have helped provide enhancements to the outdoor venue with shade coverings over the audience seating. Permanent bench seating is limited and lawn chairs or blankets are strongly encouraged.
Concerts are from 11am-12pm every Monday through July 25, excluding July 4. Check calendar listings, InConcert Sierra’s Facebook page or visit www.inconcertsierra.org, or Nevada County Library’s website for a complete list of performances.
