Grass Valley, CA – [June 24, 2025] — Nevada County Country Club (NCCC) is proud to announce it has been awarded a $12,400 Reach Grant from the Northern California Golf Association (NCGA). This significant grant will directly support the Nevada Union High School (NUHS) Junior Varsity Girls Golf Team over the next three years.
The NCGA’s Reach Foundation selected NCCC for its demonstrated commitment to growing the game of golf through community-centered, youth-focused initiatives. The awarded funds will provide uniforms, equipment, and player development, including a full year of weekly golf instruction conducted on the course or at the range.
“This grant is a game-changer for our young athletes,” said Cheryl DeGrasse, President of the NCCC Board of Directors. “We’re thrilled to partner with NUHS and proud to help lower the financial barriers that often prevent girls from joining or continuing in golf. It’s an investment in youth, in equity, and in the future of the game.”
Daniel Crossen, Athletic Director at Nevada Union High School, emphasized the impact of the grant and the importance of local collaboration:
“Executing exceptional experiences for our high school student-athletes is truly a community effort. One of the greatest challenges for kids getting involved in youth sports is the cost. We are proud to partner with Nevada County Country Club to help address this challenge. This partnership will benefit our kids, their families, our school, and the Girls Golf program. Additionally, it strengthens the bonds between our Miners and the community that supports them.”
The program launches in August alongside the new school year. In addition to skill development, the initiative will foster confidence, sportsmanship, and a welcoming pathway into golf for girls in the community.
The NCGA’s Reach initiative aims to expand golf’s reach by funding programs that reflect innovation, inclusion, and youth development throughout Northern California. For more information on the grant or to learn how to get involved, please visit www.nevadacountygolf.com
