Grass Valley, CA April 15, 2026— The Nevada County Democrats will host a public candidate forum on Sunday, April 27, at the historic Miners Foundry Cultural Center in Nevada City.
This forum offers community members an opportunity to hear directly from candidates in person and on stage about the issues that matter most to Nevada County residents. Confirmed candidates include:
· Nevada City City Council Candidates Adam Kline, Micayla Sortland, and James Khatami
· Nevada County Superintendent of Schools John Baggett
· Congressional Candidates District 3 Chris Bennett and Heidi Hall
Armando Salud-Ambriz, Clerk Recorder Registrar of Voters, will speak about voting security. Former County Superintendent Terry McAteer will speak about the California governor’s race and explain how the large pool of Democratic candidates could spell a negative result for Democrats.
Attendees will gain insight into candidates’ positions, priorities, and visions for the future, and will have the chance to engage with the democratic process in an open and informative setting.
The event is part of the Nevada County Democrats’ ongoing commitment to civic engagement, transparency, and voter education ahead of upcoming elections. All community members are encouraged to attend, regardless of party affiliation.
