The Nevada County Fish and Wildlife Commission is now accepting grant proposals for projects that protect, conserve, propagate, and/or preserve fish and wildlife resources in the County.

The grant period is now open with an application submittal deadline of November 30, 2022. The Nevada County Fish and Wildlife Commission requests that applicants also provide an oral presentation of their project at their December 06, 2022, meeting.

Previous grants helped fund projects like the annual Kid’s Trout Fishing Debry in Truckee, as well as helped purchase specialized equipment for various organizations that are focused on monitoring the health of our waterways in Nevada County.  “These projects funded in part by the Propagation Fund truly benefit all residents of Nevada County and those that come to visit,” says Chris de Nijs, Nevada County Agricultural Commissioner, and ex officio member of the Commission.

A recommendation on specific project funding from the Nevada County Fish and Wildlife Commission will be forwarded to the Nevada County Board of Supervisors, which has final decision-making authority for expenditures from the Fund. Grants awarded will be paid during the second half of the Fiscal Year 2022/23.

The grant program is entirely supported through the Nevada County Fish and Wildlife Propagation Fund, which receives revenues resulting from violations of Fish and Game laws and regulations in the County. The funds, as designated in the California Fish and Game Code §13103, are to benefit the fish and wildlife resources of Nevada County. Those projects that meet the code section are encouraged to apply.
