Five Nevada Country Rotary Clubs used their annual foundation dinner to celebrate and recognize the youth leaders of Nevada Union High School’s Interact Club.

The NU Interact Club is a student-led club dedicated to community service and the values of Rotary, under the guidance of Nevada Union activities director Pete Totoonchie and Marty Lombardi, of the 49er Breakfast Rotary Club of Nevada City.
The club has 150 active student members who completed more than 30 community service projects and service events during the 2025-26 school year.
“These young people are the epitome of ‘Service Above Self,’ which is the principal motto of Rotary International,” said Marcia Salter, Area 4 governor for Rotary District 5190.
“The NU Interact Club has certainly embodied the philosophy of unselfish volunteer service and our community is so appreciative of their efforts.”
Lori Hope, the president of the Rotary Club of Penn Valley, presented Interact’s student leaders with certificates recognizing their efforts to make their community a better place.
“The Interact members of today are destined to be the Rotary members and leaders of tomorrow,” Hope said.
The Area 4 Rotary Clubs held their annual foundation dinner at the Alta Sierra Country Club.
