For the bus art to truly reflect the community, we asked the community, you, to vote on your favorite designs. We collected results and the winner was selected.

Nevada County Transit announces the bus art winner Denise Wey with Poppies. Coming Summer 2022, this public art installation will feature Denise’s Poppies on eleven (11) Nevada County Connects fixed route buses (formerly Gold Country Stage).

Nevada County Bus Art Winner

We would like to thank all those who participated in the survey and selection process. We would also like to thank all the artists who submitted art for this contest, including the runners-up Jan Pellizzer, Jerianne Van Dijk, Jessica Cook, Neighborhood Center for the Arts, Pamela Hodges, and Sarah Smith. “The many, varied pieces submitted truly represent the artistic diversity of Nevada County and its artists. We are grateful to all those who participated. Now come, visit and ride the busses!” Robin Van Valkenburgh, Transit Services Manager.

After all, the goal of this project is to raise awareness surrounding available transit and showcase the new transit brand by highlighting art that exemplifies the cultural diversity, love for the outdoors, and the creativity of our community.

Nevada County Now and Nevada County Connects, the new brand, represents the result of an intensive, two-year public process, including the Nevada County Transit Services Commission, Nevada County Board of Supervisors, and members of the public. The name reflects who provides transit services, Nevada County, and the role transportation has in the community – it offers accessible mobility options connecting people with work, education, adventure, and culture.
