GRASS VALLEY – The Nevada Irrigation District is reporting that 26.45 inches of precipitation has been recorded at Bowman Reservoir (elev. 5,650 ft.) through November.

“We have 130 years of records for the Bowman precipitation gage and we have had similar or greater numbers in only 10 of those years,” said NID Water Resources Supt. Sue Sindt.

The 26.45-inch mark equals 192 percent of average for this time of year and 39 percent of the 67-inch annual average.

NID measures precipitation each year from July 1 through June 30. The December-March period is typically the wettest time of year.

As of Nov. 30, water storage in NID’s 10 reservoirs was at 208,460 acre-feet, which is 138 percent of average for this time of year.
