Grass Valley, Feb. 6, 2026 – As part of its ongoing commitment to provide reliable irrigation water and high-quality drinking water while keeping rates as low as possible, the Nevada Irrigation District (NID) Board of Directors will review a Water Rate Study during its meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026.
The study applies established rate-making principles to evaluate the District’s current rate structure and determine rates that generate sufficient revenue to meet financial obligations, including operations, maintenance, and long-term infrastructure needs.
During the public workshop, Directors will examine key financial challenges facing the District, such as rising operating costs and the need for continued investment in aging infrastructure. The workshop will focus on how a potential rate structure can more accurately reflect the true cost of providing water service.
Any proposed rate adjustments will follow all legal requirements under Proposition 218. This process includes public notice, a formal public hearing to receive customer input, and multiple opportunities for Board review before any final action is taken.
The Water Rate Study workshop is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Feb. 11, 2026 in the NID Board Room at 1036 West Main Street in Grass Valley. Members of the public are welcome to attend in person or participate via Zoom (link in the meeting agenda).
